In 1989, Dean Kamen created FIRST to not only inspire students to pursue technical careers, but to encourage teamwork and gracious professionalism amongst them. The FIRST Robotics Competition, the FIRST LEGO League, and the FIRST Tech Challenge are all founded by FIRST. These competitions are aimed at many different age groups, with Junior FIRST LEGO League for 6-9 year olds, FIRST LEGO League for 10-14 year olds, and FIRST Robotics for high school students.
