Week 2 :: Jan 13-19
For the second week, we held a meeting for parents with students involved in the FIRST program. The meeting’s purpose was to discuss and inform parents on:
-what FIRST is-the benefits of taking part in FIRST
-traveling plans
-the amount of time and dedication needed to make the season possible
-ways they can help us out
Our President also made a arrangements for a guest speaker - a parent from Waiakea High School, who is also involved in the FIRST program. The students' parents were able to ask questions and get answers from an experienced parent.
The meeting was a success. The students and parents completed contracts agreeing to dedicate 18 hours a week to FIRST. The parents also created a support system to provide snacks and meals for the working team, allowing us to work more efficiently. Parents also help in the evening supervising and running errands for the team.
Build/Design Team:
We met every night of the week to collaborate on a lift system and to figure out how to get the TRACKBALL over the OVERPASS. We drafted different lift systems and figured out the dimensions and materials.
Animation/Inventor Team:
The Inventor team progressed by creating many other robotics parts, working directly with the design team to create scale replicas of many different robot ideas.
Programming/Electrical:
More programs were installed to various computers, including MPLAB and ROBOTC programming applications. The elctronics board was also completed, so programs could be tested on the electrical board and motors.
